Kathy Morrow

Kathy Morrow is the Director of Communications for Choctawhatchee
Electric Cooperative (CHELCO) in DeFuniak Springs, Fla., a position she
has held since 1996. Prior to moving to Florida, she worked as
information specialist at Alabama Electric Cooperative in Andalusia.

After graduating from Troy University in 1989 with a double major in
print journalism and English, she worked at several weekly newspapers in
Alabama, including the Army Flier at Ft. Rucker, before making the
career change to public relations.

As CHELCO's director of communications, Kathy is responsible for all
internal and external communications. She writes the cooperative's
bi-monthly magazine, CHELCO News, which has won numerous awards for both
design and content. She is a Certified Cooperative Communicator (CCC)
and serves on the CCC Board of Directors. She recently served on the
planning committee and acted as a presenter during a national
orientation for new cooperative communicators in Washington, D.C.

Kathy is active in the United Way of Okaloosa and Walton Counties, the
Emerald Coast Public Relations Organization and the Emerald Coast
Advertising Federation. She is also a member of the Lake DeFuniak
Toastmaster's Club and an award-winning speaker.

She is a charter member of the TU Journalism Alumni Association and has
served three terms as president.
